IMAGE DEVELOPMENT
Logos, color concepting, typography. Each image reflects basic brand insights and the vibe of the candidate or issue, the atmosphere of the campaign and the mood of the electorate. We always work through the name and brand first, looking at who else is running, and what the tone of the campaign should be. Then, we build a brand guidelines and usage sheet for team members and volunteers.
CASE STUDY: PT Wood Commissioner
PT ran as a Dem, but we decided to run from Dem blue, and lean into his Independant heritage, and our need to move the center. The colors pulled from RED and BLUE, and maybe, just maybe hinted at the Broncos palette, The colors are earthy, yet colorful.
SOCIAL ASSETS
CASE STUDY:
PT Wood, County Commissioner. Each piece was created, shared or posted to reflect a frequency around three specific periods;
1. Announcement 2. Ballot Drop 3. Election Day
Part of this project involved an initial photo shoot, and outreach to photographers who had politically-aligned ideologies so we had rich assets to use across our Creative.

VIDEO
CASE STUDY:
PT Wood, County Commissioner
We developed 18 unique videos that respected the campaign's research and insights. The Chaffee County Dems were also consulted. These videos were used to show volunteers the tone of the campaign, typography, colors and platform specifics.
We made a dozen shorts, mostly testimonials, of various lengths.
Each was released in conjunction with a letter to the Editor, and/or relevant local events so the film resonated with local topics and discussions.
Here are a few examples:

In his second run, Mr. Wood won in a landslide election.

PENDING: PT Wood for County Commissioner
This is a 2022 campaign. There are a variety of assets that can be viewed on Instagram: woodforchaffee, and in the case studies above.
There have been many other campaigns where we have played a less pivotal role.
Through the lens of my day job as a brand development and strategic communications specialist, I've realized how many good candidates lose because of weak Creative, or because their volunteer team doesn't apply brand development principals, or messaging discipline. At the national level, we've all watched Republicans crush Dems who don't stay on message. Inconsistent, or even incoherent messaging are forced errors. It's a crime when the better candidate loses, or an issue fails because of voter confusion.
So, I decided to offer my services more formally to progressive Independent, and Dem campaigns at the local, state or national level.
I've been a new-media designer for three decades, and every couple years I'm asked to be a part of a local campaign here in Salida, Colorado, a fast-growing, relatively sophisticated mountain community. I grew up in Madison, Wisconsin, a town where people live and breath politics, before moving to Jackson, WY., where political money flows like water and a fundraiser may include more than one billionaire.
I work at a non-profit rate, and can assist with any part of your campaign. I have colleagues from South Carolina to Florida, and L.A. to Portland, and I enjoy learning about their local issues and demographic challenges. We can talk behavioral science, or polarization theory. I don't claim to be a political hot shot, but it's not rocket science. I've been a part of many local campaigns, and I've never lost.
